Citibank Restaurant Week - Benjarong - October 3rd 2013

The restaurant week takes place twice a year and this is a glorious opportunity to enjoy the food of some of the most high-end restaurants in town. We booked for a table for Benjarong which was filling up really fast and we got it for the last day. You pay 100/- to book a table and then you pay 750 for a set menu(plus taxes of course!)

We were two vegetarians and one non-vegetarian and a kid who only ate what he wanted and if he wanted! :-)

You had a choice of two starters, one soup and one salad, two main courses served with noodles and rice and a dessert to top it up.

While they prepared the food, you are treated to a platter of lettuce leaves and a whole lot of fillings that you can use - peanuts, oninons, lemon, chillies, smoked coconut and a tamarind jelly.

Here is what I had :

I had a tom-yum prawn soup and a fried egg salad. Followed by the other two starters - chicken in pandanus leaves and fish cakes. For the main course, I had fish in basil chilli sauce and lamb in peppercorn sauce. The pictures follow.

The veg folks had tom yum  veg soup with mushroom and raw mango salad. Corn patties and tofu pandanus.
For the main course broccoli and peas curry and potato chilly.

For Desserts there were three choices and we ordered one each among us just to taste all of them - Lemon grass ice-cream, water chestnut rubies win coconut milk and coconut/pumkpin pudding.

The desserts were the only part we did not absolutely love, but everything else was just wonderful and very filling ! Loved the experience and would definitely come back anytime for such a treat ..

Missed my wife, who also shares an appetite for exotic food and would have loved to be there.. But she is busy taking care of the yet-to-be-born baby .. Maybe next time !!
